How to Use Exodus
Exodus is a user-friendly, self-custody crypto wallet that allows you to manage, send, receive, and exchange a wide variety of cryptocurrencies. Here’s a quick summary of how to use it: 1. Getting Started & Security:
- Download and Install: Download the Exodus app for your desktop (Windows, Mac, Linux), mobile device (iOS, Android), or as a browser extension (Chrome, Brave).
- Self-Custody: Exodus is a “self-custody” wallet, meaning you have full control over your private keys. Your private keys and transaction data are stored locally on your device and are encrypted.
- Backup Your Wallet: The most critical step is backing up your 12-word secret recovery phrase. This phrase is the master key to your funds. Write it down on paper and store it in a secure, offline location. Never store it digitally or share it with anyone.
- Security: Set a strong password and consider enabling biometric authentication (Face ID, Touch ID) for added security. Exodus also integrates with Trezor hardware wallets for an extra layer of protection.
2. Core Functions:
- Receive Crypto: To receive crypto, go to the wallet for the specific asset you want to receive and click “Receive.” This will display your public address and a QR code. Copy the address or use the QR code to have someone send you crypto.
- Send Crypto: To send crypto, select the asset you want to send and click “Send.” Enter the recipient’s address and the amount you want to send. Double-check the address carefully, as blockchain transactions are irreversible. You can also customize transaction fees for some assets.
- Buy Crypto: You can buy crypto directly within the Exodus wallet using various third-party providers and payment methods like credit/debit cards, bank transfers, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
- Swap Crypto: Exodus has a built-in exchange feature that allows you to swap one cryptocurrency for another without leaving the app. This is done through third-party partners and a small spread fee is included in the transaction.
3. Additional Features:
- Portfolio Tracker: Exodus provides a real-time view of your portfolio’s value across all your assets.
- Staking: You can earn passive income by “staking” certain cryptocurrencies directly within the wallet.
- NFTs: The wallet also supports storing and displaying NFTs.
