Melanotan 1 (MT-1)

FDA-approved identity: MT-1 is, in fact, the active ingredient in afamelanotide, marketed as Scenesse—an FDA-approved drug for preventing phototoxicity in erythropoietic protoporphyria (EPP), a rare blood disorder. The approved form is a subcutaneous implant delivering 16mg over roughly 2 months. This is a separate clinical/regulatory context from the research/tanning use described below.
